Yoga and Chinese Medicine Workshop with Akalai Hanui

Join Akalai Hanui to learn about the body's meridian lines, and how to target them using yoga asana and acupressure.

Please remember to bring your yoga mat to the workshop. Additionally if you can, please bring 2 yoga blocks and a yoga strap as well. If not, don't worry—Akalai has a few extras to share, though supplies are limited.

Yoga and Chinese Medicine

What are Meridian Lines? The body’s meridian lines are said to be comparable to energy highways that travel all throughout the body. The meridians are what transport qi or vital energy. Qi can become stuck or stagnant due to trauma, emotional disturbances, food, and lifestyle.

What Happens when Qi Becomes Stuck? When this free flow of qi becomes stagnant and stuck the energy can bring on this sense of irritability, frustration, and edginess.

How Do I Move Stagnant Energy? In a yoga practice one could use asana (postures) or acupressure to help restore the natural flow of qi running throughout the meridians. Using specific asana we can target and stimulate different meridians via compression, lengthening, and twisting.
